Artist's Description

A nautical vessel sailing under threatening skies. The sailboat seemingly in the spotlight of the break in the cloud cover as it makes its way through the New York Harbor. In the distance we see the landmarks of an industrial city. Throughout history sailing has been instrumental in the development of civilization, affording humanity greater mobility than travel over land, whether for trade, transport or warfare, and the capacity for fishing. Sailing has contributed to many great explorations in the world.
This is a warm toned black and white photograph. The scene was captured from a pier in Redhook Brooklyn.

I have a fascination with abandoned places and forbidden spaces. I think we all do, there is an allure to the mystery and perhaps hidden dangers that abandoned things suggest, and we are drawn to the beauty of decay." **PLEASANTLY STRANGE PERSPECTIVES** ArtTour International magazine cover/ feature December 2011 ABC television network series...
